Chapter 43 - Window.

Regular Chapter.

Two years ago.

On a stone platform, Silver’s figure could be seen jumping around. His feet constantly moving, with only the tips of his toes touching the ground.

This was the principle of cloud step. “Always in constant movement, never stopping.”

Silver had trained the cloud step to the second stage and had gained sufficient mastery over it. However this would not be possible without the help of the Patriarch.

The stone platform he was currently training on was actually a spirit tool constructed by the Patriarch specifically for those who trained in Cloud Step. If the practitioners feet stayed on the platform for more than a second at a time then the stone would entrap the practitioner’s feet, slowly squeezing them for a substantial amount of time.

This was obviously a very dangerous training method but at the same time it was also very rewarding. When there is danger, the human body’s senses are heightened allowing them to better focus and respond to the situation. Therefore Silver was not only training in his movement technique but also in his response time.

Outside the platform, were two people talking. One fairly young and the other extremely old.

The extremely old man was the Patriarch of the Divine Tiger Clan while the youth sitting next to him was none other than Krias.

“What do you think of your Master?” asked the Patriarch as he monitored Silver’s progress.

Krias who at this time didn’t have the scar on his left eye also stared at Silver.

“He’s strange.” replied Krias.

“You think so too. I wonder if it’s a good thing or a bad thing?” chuckled the Patriarch as he stroked his beard.

“I don’t really understand what you mean but just by looking at him, you can tell that he’s strange. His body is almost as big as mine yet he’s only eleven, add on the fact that his cultivation isn’t far off either and is there any word apart from strange to describe him. If you didn’t....”

“That’s enough child! Even if this place is secure, there is always someone watching and listening. You don’t need to tell me of things we both have knowledge of.” said the Patriarch as he smiled towards Krias.

Krias nodded showing that he understood however in truth, he was wondering why someone would want to constantly keep watch on their actions and why?

“What about you?” asked the Patriarch.

“What about me?” replied Krias as he confusedly looked at the Patriarch.

“You are also very strange. You just don’t know it yet but you will, and when that time comes I wonder if you’ll still stay by young Silver’s side.” said the Patriarch.

Krias looked away from the Patriarch and stared at the Silver’s blurry figure.

“I might not have wanted to at first but I’ve grown attached to Master. He is indeed very strange but in my tribe, there is a saying, “Protect the light as endless darkness will only bring about chaos.”

Before I met Master I had only one purpose in life and that was to destroy the Aristov clan, I didn’t know how I would accomplish that goal nor did I care if I died in the process.

But this time that I’ve spent with Master, I’ve found another goal in life and that is to protect my light. He’s provided me with unlimited training resources and everyday I can tell I’m growing stronger, he’s promised to help me get my revenge without me even asking and finally he’s given me a second home.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to repay even one of those things with this life of mine but all I can do is do everything in my power to assist him and that means staying by his side.”

Krias then paused as he wryly smiled,

“I say all this but before that I need to make sure I get strong enough that I don’t end up becoming a burden to him instead.”

The Patriarch slightly raised his eyebrows as he stared at Krias,

“Hmm...so you wish to become strong enough to aid young Silver and at the same time you wish to get your revenge while you stay by his side.

That’s pretty greedy of you, isn’t it?”

Krias scratched his head as he tried to think of something to say.

“Haha...don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying that being greedy is bad. Only, with your current speed of cultivation I doubt you will be able to accomplish any of your goals.

However, you might have solved this problem for yourself when you made a certain decision.” said the Patriarch as he suddenly stood up.

Krias’s face fell, he didn’t want to believe the Patriarch’s words but then again this wasn’t just anybody who was telling him this. This was a supreme expert who in normal circumstances wouldn’t so much as glance at him, therefore he couldn’t just let his words just pass through one ear and then go out the other.

“What do you mean, “a decision I made long ago?” asked Krias while furrowing brows.

The Patriarch simply smiled as he pointed at the training Silver,

“Explaining it is impossible. What you need to do now is attack Silver with the intention of killing him.”

Krias gaped,

“What are yo_.....”

“No need to say anything. I’ve told you what you need to do, whether or not you actually do it is up to you.” Interrupted the Patriarch as he turned around and walked away.

Krias stared at the Patriarch’s back, he really didn’t want to do or believe his words however what if? What if he was telling the truth and this was the window to achieving his goals.

Krias then looked at the training Silver, his body constantly moving, his speed steadily increasing.

“Right now I’m at the 85th level. It took me nineteen years to get here.

Some might call me a genius but what about Master then? He’s only eleven and yet he’s already surpassed the 50th level. How long till he surpasses me?”  thought Krias.

He then stood up and slowly walked towards the platform.

“I’m not going to go all out, I just want to know the distance between he and I!”

Krias repeated this in his mind as he ascended the steps leading to the platform.

Silver was concentrating on his balance and foot work, trying to find the most efficient method to accomplish “constant movement” without exhausting large amounts of energy when from the corner of his eye, he spotted Krias standing at the edge of the platform.

“What is it?” asked Silver as he hopped on spot.

Krias stepped onto the platform with a serious expression on his face.

“Grant me a spar.” said Krias as he released his dark aura.

“Why so sudden_....”

Before Silver could finish what he was saying, Krias had already summoned his [Night Mist Blade] and was halfway towards Silver.

Seeing this Silver quickly released his aura and drew out his lightning divine power, covering his entire body in it.

He then waved his hand sending some lightning divine power flying towards Krias which then morphed in mid-air forming three long lightning spears.

Krias saw the three spears flying towards him and immediately swung his sword toward them as he cried out,

The blade then turned into a black mist that dashed towards the three spears and wrapped around them.

Two of the spears were caught by the mist and thrown away however the third spear managed to get through. It blasted through the air heading straight for Krias’s chest.

Krias was greatly shocked by this outcome however he didn’t panic. He sent some of his spiritual power towards his right arm, causing it to change colour and slightly enlarge.

He then struck out with it, clashing with the spear head on.

Sparks flew out everywhere, and a cloud of dust rose into the air obstructing Silver’s sight.

Suddenly from within the cloud of dust Krias jumped out, his blade back to it’s solid form. A bright red mark could be seen on his right arm.

“I didn’t think you’d be able to injure me. It looks like I have no choice but to get serious.” said Krias.

Hearing this, Silver couldn’t help but wonder,

“What’s wrong with Krias? This clearly isn’t just a spar.”

He then retreated another ten meters.

Krias gave chase as he mumbled a few words. As soon as his mouth stopped moving, four clones that looked exactly like him appeared.

The clones then joined together and entered Krias’s body. His aura took a sudden leap in intensity and strength.

“Careful!” shouted Krias.

Silver couldn’t believe that Krias was going to use that technique in a spar.

“Don’t blame me.” barked Silver.

In the middle of Silver’s divine core, there was a small collection of light blue divine power and like a sleeping dragon it seemed extremely calm and peaceful yet when woken could turn into a tyrannical beast of untold destruction.

Silver circulated half of the light blue divine power around his body, and something very peculiar happened. The lightning divine power that was circulating around his body was being quickly devoured by the light blue divine power.

Krias’s eyes widened as he saw this, however he quickly stopped himself from thinking too much on it. This was the moment when two powerful attacks were going to be launched, any carelessness could lead to severe injuries for both parties.

Everything was calm, two people stood on the platform. One who was shrouded in a dark fog and on the other side, one who was shrouded in blue divine power.

A gust of wind suddenly blew by and as if it was some sort of signal, both Krias and Silver launched themselves at unbelievable speed towards one another.

In the blink of an eye, they were upon each other. Silver struck out with a side kick aimed for Krias’s waist.

The wind cried as Silver’s leg blew by, a testament to the power contained within.

The kick connected and Krias’s body suddenly exploded turning into a pile of ash.

Seeing this Silver immediately sent divine power to his feet and while using [Cloud Step] jumped to the side.

A spear hand darted through where Silver previously stood. Another second later and he would probably not be able to walk properly for a few days.

The spear hand belonged to Krias, he stood there shrouded in darkness as he stared at Silver.

“Hmph! You’re going too far.” thought Silver.

He then slightly crouched, all the muscles on his body bulged ready to explode with power at any time.

Silver launched himself with unprecedented power, to the point that the platform shook. He ran in a *Z* line as he drew closer to Krias.

Krias stood his ground awaiting the attack, he had supreme confidence in being able to dodge it. After all his most powerful technique was an evasion type.
